Tyler Clementi's Parents to Sue Rutgers

The Associated Press reports that the parents of cyberbullying victim Tyler Clementi plan to sue Rutgers University.

Clementi was the young 18-year-old Rutgers freshman who committed suicide in September 2010 after video of his romantic encounter with another man was allegedly captured and distributed through a webcam in his dorm room.

In the wake of the Tyler Clementi tragedy, some misguided legislation has been proposed and enacted in places including New Jersey. Crime, Politics and Policy has previously been critical of the unintended consequences such legislation can be expected to produce.

Eric Dixon is a New York investigative lawyer and strategic analyst.  Mr. Dixon counsels lawsuit defendants and others on how to handle the extreme stress of litigation.  Mr. Dixon also handles legal and management issues for businesses and individuals.
